I visit this place every week at least once. The food is great. For a chinese place the prices are considered to be mid to high, however, the quality and service make up for it. But if you are used to eating at western family type restaurants, like baton rouge, alice fuzili, jack astors, etc. This place is a real bargain. Their dim sum is great too, one of the best finds in Richmond Hill. Most of the bargain chinese restaurants tend to offer food that are on the rustic side. This is refined cantonese dining, but this aspect may be lost on many westerners who are used to the China Town grub, and may not have the same discerning palate. Nonetheless, eating there will definitely improve your palate, and you will wonder how a place like the keg, shoeless joe and other similar places can charge $30 per person for the food they serve, and still be considered to be moderately priced.

I really like this restaurant. It will have your order ready within 10 minutes. If I'm ever working from home or just don't have time to cook, this is very quick and feasible option. The other day, I placed an order for a slightly spicy meal and went home. I found the meal too spicy for my taste so I asked if I could get a milder version. They just asked me to bring the original meal back & they provided me a fresh meal according to my liking within 10 minutes. Now, that's good customer service. By the way, the prices are pretty good during lunch time.

I come to this place because it is close proximity to where I live.
The atmosphere of this place is amazing. There are booths set up like Japanese-styled rooms, jazz music is played in the background (okay not authentic, but meh), the chopsticks are placed in either bamboo boxes or in mini-kimonos.
The food, well, it really depends on what your order. I give top marks to the rolls they have, and I especially recommend the Toronto and Monster rolls, those two are unique in their own ways. I didn't like their sushi and sashimis, found their fish rather not fresh. The ramen and udons are excellent. Tempura is a no-go.
Service-wise is quite wishy washy due to a lack of staff, especially if you're sitting by the booths. The ring for service technique is ineffective; even I can't tell how the mechanism will notify waitresses that you need assistance. They are very friendly though.
Will I visit again? Yes, of course. Just know what you're ordering. Hey, if you visit often, the chefs sometimes give something new for you to try!

Noodles are cooked amazingly and perfectly with the perfect amount of sauce...
Fried Rice was also very nicely cooked.
The food there will always be amazing... The owners there constantly keep an eye on the chef. They can smell any imperfections in your dish (eg. more wine, more sauce, etc).
I've never seen anything get sent back!

Haven't been here for a while and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have redecorated. Replaced a number of tables with booths and that makes it much nicer inside. Food is great. Lots of variety. Excellent prices. The one thing about this place that annoys me is that they never bring your bill to the table -- I always have to go to the cash to find out how much the bill is and pay. Not a biggie but still annoying.

I often go here for lunch since I work nearby.
The Japanese chef is very friendly and welcoming. I've had an incredibly pleasant experience every time just being in this quiet and calm restaurant (although every once in a while it's absolutely full with a lunch crowd!)
I like the sushi, salmon nigiri in particular, and their uni is very very good. They don't carry toro at all, by choice. Squid, scallop, hamachi, all great. Rolls are very lovely presented.
Everyone I've ever taken with me to this place has enjoyed it, whether they were sushi-addicted like me or just into it once in a while.
I'm definetly going back.

After reading about Ding Tai Fung in the local newspaper, we tried it this morning with my wife and her parents. And, we were rewarded with excellent dim sum. The menu is a la carte, so everything arrived piping hot and fresh. The deep fried squid tentacles were amazing, perfectly salty & crunchy. Siu Mai was also good, done a little differently with brown rice on top. The green onion pancakes were flavourful, and not too oily. Xiao Long Bao were heavenly, with moist flavourful pork on the inside and perfectly done wrapping. We also ordered steamed vegetable buns, spring rolls, and a sticky rice bun called "si fan" with salty, crispy pork rolled into the inside.
The decor is nice, and restaurant seemed very clean overall. Bill was $58 fo 4 adults including tip.
I think this is some of the best dim sum in the GTA, and we've eaten extensively from Markham to Scarborough to downtown Chinatown. My parents in law who are from Taiwan and China were also impressed. We'll definitely return!

I was looking for one of the new places to try north of 7, and came across this restaurant. They have very little parking out front, perhaps more behind - or if you want to park across the street and brave the insane driveway, there's more parking there.
I am occidental - and was the only one here, which is a relatively good sign. The food arrived super hot but took longer than it does in some nearby Dim Sum places. The delivery people were very clean and well dressed which was pleasing. I was given really nice Jasmine tea when I sat down - but was charged $1 for it....I don't mind, but I've not been charged for tea before (I think of it as water...perhaps it's a Dim Sum thing).
The shrimp dumplings had good firm shrimp, with nice flavour, as did the steamed rice noodles. I should have gotten a veg dish but didn't want to overeat. The mango pudding presentation was very nice - a heart form with nice cream / sweetened condensed milk.
I'll probably try it again - but felt a bit out of place.

While Zen is our favourite Japanese Restaurant, my boyfriend and I have enjoyed dining here for their enoki maki (thin slices of beef wrapped around enoki-Japanese mushrooms). Their nigiri and sashimi while delicious is not a priority for us to order as they serve very thin small pieces for the price you pay.
We have also had their sukiyaki (we cook ourselves on the table) and it is large enough for 3 people, although much more expensive ($60 for 2 people which includes rice and raw egg for dipping) than other restaurants where we have enjoyed the same. The sukiyaki comes traditionally (as they served), with slices of thin sukiyaki beef, tofu, Chinese cabbage, green onion, oyster mushrooms, shitake mushrooms and regular mushrooms, transparent thin noodles and onion. Their broth was excellent-not too sweet. A great meal to have on a cold day.

The food here is so delicious. The menu is huge! All the dishes taste really fresh and the "bubble tea" is amazing! I forget what I ordered exactly, but it was spicy cripsy chicken on top of noodles. It was excellent. They also have the deep-fried standards like chicken wings, rice, and chicken balls. Anyone remember the chicken balls at Cresent Gardens? These are the closest that I've tasted to that recipe.
I love the atmosphere! There's always karaoke music playing in the background, and the floors and tables are spotless. The little asian lady always has an interesting story to tell.
All in all, although a bit expensive this restaurant makes great food, has a nice atmosphere. I'll be back!
