Not sure why there are bad reviews on here. Must have visited at a bad time or something. I eat here almost weekly and am never let down. The menu is always improving and the service is pretty well standard- GREAT. Drinks specials are always happening and there are usually seasonal deals as well. I've hosted all kinds of events at Koosh: from retirement lunches to important dinners and so on. They are flexible and can cater to all kinds of needs. Otherwise, I go often with my family and have never been disappointed. The wine list is extensive, food is noticeably fresh and the wait staff is lovely. The Robert Simpson beers are delicious, too. I'll typically order the grilled pork tenderloin but I'm also a fan of the veal gorgonzola, veal marsala and lamb shank. For lunch, the pasta or pizza specials are also quite good. If find yourself there on a weekend morning, the pancake is thick and meaty and quite unlike anything I've ever had. A great gem in a quiet and decrepit part of town. Williams is essentially an expanded coffee house, that offers food which is edible, but not great. But, that is to be expected, as no one would go here expecting fine dining. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, service is quick and the place seems to be clean. Being right across from McMaster, it is often full of students, many who come to study, and staff doesn't seem to mind. The food is always excellent at this restaurant, and they were quite gracious in accommodating our very last minute reservation. The service was disorganized at first, but it got better as the meal proceeded. My only complaint would be on the drink side. Prices on the cocktail menu would be helpful, since there can be huge price swings for the same drink at different restaurants. Also, $55 for a $15 Niagara wine seems like an excessive mark up. The Bean Bar is a really good low key restaurant in the Westdale neighbourhood. They provide an extensive menu with a wide variety to choose from at a reasonable price. The food is fantastic and comes in portions that are not overwhelming where you can't finish it - just perfect. I brought my parents here to see what it was like and it exceeded their expectations. I had the ham and maple cranberry wrap and it was terrific. Definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxed and mellow which is nice to have conversation. It's a good place for lunch or an early supper. The staff is super friendly so the service is great. If you're ever in Westdale, it's definitely worth checking out. Read more
