We have come every year in December from Hamilton to Simcoe to see the Christmas lights. We stop at the Barrel Restaurant first, and it is a highlight of our trip: excellent food, excellent atmosphere. There is a very large menu, so I know people can order what they want and sometimes get something different from what they want. Suffice to say that I find the Penne Capri on par with meals served in Italy, and my husband and in-laws refuse to order anything other than the lasagna because they enjoy it so much every time. I think the stars aligned when I went to Swiss Chalet a while back (more than a year ago). As always, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy without being stuffy or drab, and the service was quick (so quick I barely blinked and my food was there!). We had an AMAZING server who was around without hovering, and our food, as I said, was out within five minutes of ordering. This was, by far, the best service I have ever received in any restaurant. The server, in particular, was just absolutely incredible. She refiilled our water glasses when they were nearing empty, and it was like she was telepathic: she came with more napkins when things got a little bit messy! Overall, phenomenal. I found Super Mario's last year and have visited a few times. IF you are looking for a nice dine-in experience, this is not the place. (Having said that, there is only one other pizzeria in town and they don't have any sit down service. Everything else, however, is great! I met the owner, Mario, and he's a true blue (or should I say true green and red) Italian! You can taste Italy in every pizza pie made. He has good staff, most of them high school students that really seem to know their jobs. Most of the time I order for myself and they have always been very efficient.
