Firstly, know that you're paying for the food, not the atmosphere. Perfect for what I was seeking that night, but probably not a place to take a first date. Second NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY. At least as of Feb. 9th 2008, all of the items had meat. The rice (and sauce) was divine; the chicken was done well; I was less impressed with the xaniid though, it might have just been that night as they are supposedly known for it. I came here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed. We arrived just as the place opened up; the upstairs dining area had not been opened yet. Regardless, I asked if we could have a table on the upper level and the wait staff accommodated our request and opened up the upstairs area and we were given the option to have our choice of any table we wanted. We chose a table on the North side of the restaurant with a great view of the By-ward Market. My burger tasted a little dry but as I had never tried buffalo or bison before I didn't know if that was normal or not. Aside from that the atmosphere was so nice I probably would have even enjoyed a bad meal in that restaurant, sitting where I was. Read more
